Charts are based on historical data that is downloaded and stored on your PC. This chart is not updated from the server and therefore new quotes will not be displayed on this chart.
Offline charts are very useful when used to work with instruments or non-standard time frames. It should be noted that the base chart must be activated at all times to ensure that the offline chart continues to display prices
Example:
To make a 2 minute chart, please do the following steps:
- Open the 1 minute chart on the symbol / instrument of your choice.
- Search for PeriodConverter in ‘Scripts’ in the Navigator window.
- Slide the PeriodConverter into the chart window.

A box will appear as below. Select the 'Common' tab and make sure the 'Allow Live Trading' and 'Allow DLL imports' boxes are checked.

Indicators are price analysis tools that can be added to your MT5 chart. MT5 provides several standard indicators that you can find in the Navigator window

To delete an indicator from your chart right-click on the chart and select Indicators List. Select the indicator that you want to delete and click Delete. Or you can right-click on the indicator on your chart and delete the indicator from there
Standard indicators are specifically designed by MetaQuotes, platform owner and developer. This is the indicator most often used by traders, such as Moving Average which displays the average price over a certain period of time. But there are also thousands of custom indicators available online, many of them free to use. One of the reasons MetaTrader is so popular is that anyone can develop indicators to use on their MT5 platform
If you want to install custom indicators then you must ask for installation instructions and support from the party who developed the software. Each custom indicator is unique and can consist of several different program files so our Support team cannot help with software that has been developed by a third party.
However we can provide the following general guidelines for installing 3rd party custom indicators on MT5.
- Navigate to File and Open Data Folder.
- In the double-click pop-up window in the MQL5 subfolder.
- Save the 3rd party indicators in the Indicators folder and restart MT5.
- The new indicator that you added will appear in the Navigator window under Indicators.
- Apply the indicators to your graph in the same way as described above.
NOTE: GKinvest is not responsible for the reliability of each indicator.
How do you add Expert Advisors to the MT5 chart?
Expert Advisors (EA) are trading robots that allow you to automate your trading strategy. MT5 provides several default EA programs that you can see in the Navigator window
The default EA was specifically designed by MetaQuotes, Platform owner and developer. But there are thousands of custom-made EAs available online, many of them free to use. One of the reasons MetaTrader is so popular is that anyone can develop an EA for use on their MT5 platform or to share with other traders.
If you want to install an EA program, you must ask for installation instructions and support from the party who developed the EA. Each EA is unique and can consist of several different program files so that our support team cannot help with software that has been developed by a third party.
But we can provide the following general guidelines for installing 3rd party custom EAs on MT5.
- Navigate to File and Open Data Folder.
- In the double-click pop-up window in the MQL5 subfolder.
- Save the 3rd party EA in the Experts folder and restart MT5.
- The new EA that you added will appear in the Navigator window under Expert Advisors.
When you add an EA to your chart a box will appear that allows you to change the settings of the EA
If you don't want to allow the EA to start real trading, don't check the Allow live trading and Allow DLL imports.
NOTE: Please read the Expert Advisors section at the end of
Business Provisions.
If your EA is ready to start real trading you must check the box that says "Allow Live Trading and Allow DLL imports."
How can I do the Expert Advisor test?
If you want to test the EA program before you use it for trading, you can do a back-test using the Strategy Tester. Enter the main menu, select View then select Strategy Tester.
An additional window will open in MT5 where you can specify the type of EA and details you want to test. Please note that this test is based on historical data and does not reflect the future. Furthermore, the available price is only the BID price, which certainly limits the interpretation of test results. Available historical data depends on the individual product. However, historical data can be extended if you navigate to the main menu, select Tools and History Center. In this window you can choose the product for which you want to download historical data.
If you have a CFD account or CFD demo account you can download historical data from the MT5 History Center and use additional data to test the performance of the EA. For further instructions on how to download data from the History Center, see Historical Price Data
If you add an EA to the chart then you can do a back-test even if it doesn't work. Make sure that you do not check the Allow Live Trading and Allow DLL Imports boxes if you don't want to start trading automatically. Right-click on the chart, select Expert Advisers from the menu, then Choose Strategy Tester.
Once satisfied with the results of the EA test, you can do the activation by right clicking on the graph, select Expert Advisers then Properties. Check the Allow Live Trading and Allow DLL Imports boxes. Alternatively you can test your EA on a demo account, which will give you trading results in a virtual test environment.

To download quotes from the History Center, follow these steps: Go to the main menu in Tools, select Options then select the Charts tab. Fill in the 'Max bars in History' section to '9999999999999'. Go again to Tools then select History Center.
Now you can choose the time period for the instrument you want, then double click on it then click 'Download'.

MetaTrader 5 will download data quotes from the time period specified for the instrument you selected directly from the History Center and import it into MT5.

What is a pending order?
Pending orders are a customer's commitment to buy or sell at a certain price one day.
You can use a pending order to make an order that will be executed automatically if the market reaches a certain level. Orders generally consist of 2 variables - price and duration. You can determine the price at which you are willing to sell / buy an instrument and also determine how long your order will be active.
You can choose 4 (four) types of pending orders:
- For Buy Limit the current ASK price is at, or higher , than the level you specified.
- For Sell Limit the current BID price is at, or lower , than the level you specified.
- For Buy Stop the price of ASK is currently at, or lower , than the level you specified.
- For Sell Stop the price of BID is currently at, or higher , than the level you specified.

Note: Pending orders can only be carried out if margin requirements are sufficient when opening a position.
How do you calculate the profit and loss value per pip?
Profit or loss per pip is always calculated based on the quoted currency. The quote currency is the second currency in the pair - for example USD in EURUSD
If your account is in the same currency as the quote currency, then the profit or loss made does not need to be converted. In the table below, you can find our pip values. We calculate the pip value in the fourth decimal 0.00010. For most currency pairs except the Japanese Yen (JPY) it is calculated with the second decimal, which is 0.010
NOTE: You will find exotic currency pairs that are quoted differently from the example (for example: four digits after the decimal point). In general, the second to last digit will always display the pip of each currency pair.

What are BUY / SELL limit and BUY / SELL stop orders?
BUY / SELL limit is an instruction to approve if the price moves to a level that is more profitable than the current market price. The order is also called 'improvement orders'. A limit order is a request to buy at a price lower than the current market price or a request to sell at a price higher than the current market price.
Stop SELL / BUY instructions to agree if the price moves to a level that is less profitable than the current market price (note: it is not profitable to buy at a high price and to sell at a low price). A stop order is a request to buy when the price is higher than the current market price or a request to sell when the price is lower than the current market price.

Are all my orders guaranteed?
Unfortunately, orders are not guaranteed because if volatility is high, prices can move quickly and we may not be able to get an offer for you at the price you requested.
For instant execution commands, you can requote in a few seconds. For pending orders, you may experience slippage in prices.
What is slippage and why does it occur?
Slippage can occur when an order is executed far from the desired price due to gaps in the market. This can happen because market prices can be very volatile or market liquidity is running low. In this scenario, the order cannot always be fulfilled at the desired price, but will be executed at the next available price.
Can I lose more money than I saved?
Forex and CFD apply a margin / leverage system. Leverage means borrowing money to add to existing funds in such a way that the potential for profit or loss is magnified. In trading, leverage is very important, and can result in large losses and damage your profit potential. When trading on leveraged products, your losses may exceed your investment.
To reduce your risk, we have an Automatic Risk Management System where open positions are automatically closed when your Equity falls below 10% of the required margin. However, the forex market is very volatile and if you have a very low margin at the time of economic news releases or other abnormal conditions, the market can quickly move against you and the system will close open positions with the next best available price. This can cause you to lose all equity, and in some cases even more.
Also if you hold an open position during the weekend when the market closes, the market can open with a level far from closing on Friday night and can cause large losses.
Can I trade via email or telephone?
You can transact via telephone but we do not accept transaction requests by email. If you do not have access to your platform (an emergency), you can contact the Helpdesk to open, modify or close your position at +62 21 2283 7975. The Helpdesk is open 24 hours throughout the open market.
What does '10 points / pips' refer to on the MT5 platform?
In MT5, 10 points / pips is equal to one ‘standard’ pip.
MT5 assumes that the last decimal point is a pip / pip although it is a fact that most currency pairs are quoted in four decimals in the market (or two decimal places for JPY currency pairs).
GKInvest quotes all prices at five decimal places (and three for JPY pairs). The MT5 platform will assume that points / pips are counted to the last decimal place, which in reality is a further subdivision of points / pips.
Does GKInvest guarantee Stop Order prices?
No, like other brokerage companies, stop orders depend on prices available in the market. But we will always give you the best prices according to market conditions at the time.
What is a Stop Loss order?
Stop loss orders help you to minimize losses when the market moves against you. If the price reaches the stop loss level, the position will be closed automatically at the next available market price.
You can add stop loss in the New Order window when you place a market or a pending order. If you take a long position (buy) your stop loss position will be lower than the price at which you are buying. If you take a short (sell) position your stop loss will be higher than the price at which you sell.
What is a Take Profit order?
Take profit orders are used to lock in profits if the market moves in the direction of your transaction. If the price reaches the take profit level, the position will be closed automatically
Take profit is useful when you cannot monitor your open positions. If you take a long (buy) position your take profit level will be higher than the price at which you are buying. If you take a short (sell) position your take profit level will be lower than the price at which you sell.
How can I place a trailing stop on the MT5 platform?
Trailing stops can only be made at open positions and on pending order placements Navigate to the 'Trade' tab in the terminal window of the MT5 platform.
Right-click on the open position and select 'Trailing Stop'.
Determine the level of trailing stop that you need.

Why can't the trailing stop be executed on my MT5 platform?
Trailing stops on the MT5 platform are carried out locally on your computer, not on our server. You need to keep MT5 open to keep the trailing stop active
If you set a trailing stop and then exit MT5, the trailing stop will be stuck and make your order unprotected.
I lost connection on the MT5 platform. Will my trailing stop position remain attached?
If you place a trailing stop and lose the server connection before the market moves at the point you specify, then the trailing stop will not be placed.
If you place a trailing stop and lose the connection after the market moves at the point you specify, the trailing stop will be activated, but will not follow the market but will become a stop loss at the last price before the connection is lost.
What is meant by re-quote?
Re-quotes occur when you request to execute an order at a certain price that is no longer available then you will be offered a new quote that you need to receive in order to place a transaction. This can happen during a fast moving market.
How can I avoid re-quotes on the MT5 platform?
Re-quotes can be reduced if you check the box ‘Enable maximum deviation from quoted price’ in the ‘New order’ window, and enter the appropriate value.
This allows you to set discretion on how much allowance / price difference can be received before a re-quote is offered.
You may be executed at a worse price than on the screen, but your order will be executed as long as the price does not move beyond your leeway.
Please note that MT5 interprets 'pip' as the last decimal place. A value of 25 pips is equivalent to 2.5 real pips.
Is there a transaction time on MT5 Forex with New York transactions?
Our MT5 Forex trading hours start from Monday morning 00:00 EET and end Friday Friday 23:59:59 EET every week.
Therefore, midnight (and Friday night market closure) with New York closing time is at 17.00 EST. (Compile AS to change their clock with a different time for others!)
For hourly transactions for each product you can see in the Trading Rules section.
What is hedging? How can hedging affect my requrement margin?
Hedging is when you have open Buy and Sell positions on the same instrument simultaneously. If you are full hedge, you will have open Buy and Sell positions in the same volume / number of lots.
Having a hedging position will reduce your total margin requirements. In the event that the market moves against your position and your equity falls below 10%, then your position will be liquidated by our Automatic Risk Management System, starting with the position that has the biggest loss.

Why was my order automatically stopped?
There are many possibilities why your order will be terminated automatically. This can be related to a stop loss or take profit setting that the market goes through and closes your position
However, if your Equity is below 10% of the adequacy margin, your position will be closed automatically, starting from the position that has the biggest loss. The position will be closed until Equity touches above 10% of the adequacy of the margin. Please note that in the event that your position is full hedge it might be liquidated automatically if your equity is below 0 (zero), this might happen when the spread widens.
What is the swap fee?
You may incur an ‘overnight’ fee (swap fee) if you leave your position open until after the US market closes. Please note that swaps for Wednesday to Thursday will count 3 days as compensation Saturday and Sunday. This is a common calculation.
What does gapping / gap refer to and why does it occur?
Gapping refers to a very volatile and illiquid market, where price movements can jump to the next price level and do not move normally / smoothly. Unfortunately, no market is immune to gapping.
